ZELDA WILLIAMS, DAUGHTER OF LATE COMEDIAN ROBIN WILLIAMS, IS NOT HAPPY WITH AI VIDEOS OF HER FATHER

Zelda Williams talked about how disturbed she is with the artificial intelligence recreations of her late father, Robin Williams. She used her Instagram stories to talk about the issue.

“I am not an impartial voice in SAG’s fight against AI,” Zelda Williams shared. “I’ve witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad. This isn’t theoretical, it is very very real.”

“I’ve already heard AI used to get his ‘voice’ to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings,” actress and director continued.

“Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance.”

Back in time, after Williams took his own life in 2014, Disney tried to use his voice. Williams had declared before his passing that his voice in Aladdin, 1992, was not to be used for anything.

As they used his voice, Williams refused to work with Disney until they apologized. “Me getting to act alongside my idol posthumously, using previously unheard dialogue, would NEVER EVER happen without the consent of his estate,” stated by Josh Gad, who was supposed to voice Genie.

“These recreations are, at their very best, a poor facsimile of greater people, but at their worst, a horrendous Frankensteinian monster, cobbled together from the worst bits of everything this industry is, instead of what it should stand for.”
