Lisa was happy with her job at the post office. She would love to walk around the town and bring people’s package which would make them happy. She would try to guess the content of the interior of each package, and when she would be correct, it would give her joy.
Each package had a story of their own, some would be a gift from a friend in distance, some would be items of a break-up, some would be just legal papers.
One day, as Lisa and Simon were cleaning the storage, they found a forgotten package. It’s probably fell down, and stayed hidden under it. It was dusty, and the package was filled with wrinkles.
It was sitting there for a long, long time. On the note above the package was written, “To the love of my life Emily.”
“Don’t you wonder who sent this?” Lisa asked to Simon.
“It is not registered in the computer.” Simon said, who already started to check.
“We need to deliver this.” Lisa smiled.
She then decided to deliver it personally. She jumped into her car and started to drive the address. She went from one side of the state to the other side. It was night when Lisa reached to the destination.
She walked towards the house of the address, and knocked the door. A slightly older woman opened the door with a surprise on her face. Lisa was holding the package.
As Lisa explained the situation, the woman asked, “For who?”
“The note on the package, here read it.” Lisa handed it over.
Emily slowly moved her hands over the package, and just stared it instead of opening it. She then sat down on the porch.
“This,” she said. “This is from Charlie.” she cried.
Charlie was a sailor, and he would send many things to Loree from overseas. “This is the last thing he sent probably. Before… Before his ship got sunk. He was lost in the sea.”
“I never thought I would see this package. I believed that it got lost in the sea. Just like my Charlie.”
Lisa was frozen with the pain. Her heart was aching with the story of Emily.
“Thank you.” Emily said.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” Lisa said, and she hugged to Emily.
“This is the goodbye of my love, Charlie.” Emily said. “I think I need to be alone now, if you don’t mind.”
“Of course!” Lisa said before she said goodbye. As she was walking towards her car, Emily talked again in tears.
“Thank you, Lisa. Thank you.”
