Emma was in love with Richard, her fiance. They met at work, and now they were planning their wedding. The only thing nerving Emma was meeting Richard’s parents. It has been six months since they started dating, and now they were getting married.
She was afraid if Richard’s parents wouldn’t like the fast moving of their relationship. They were living in another state, and they were coming there to just meet Emma.
Richard was sure that his parents would like her. He stated that he booked a table in a big restaurant.
When the day arrived, Richard came to pick her. When they entered into the restaurant, Emma was nervous. The place was looking incredibly expensive.
Then Richard’s parents welcomed them. Isabella only talked with Richard until Richard introduced Emma. Then the mother faked a smile towards Emma, and Daniel, his father, only grunted.
When Emma tried to converse with them, Isabella turned to Richard and asked that if he would like her to order, since he would overwhelmed with it.
Emma was shocked, when she saw Richard nodding. He was 34, but his mother was acting as if he was 6.
Before the meals arrived, Daniel turned to Emma and asked what is her plans with their son. “Well, you’re planning to marry him, aren’t you? How do you plan to take care of him? You know he needs his clothes ironed just so, and he can’t sleep without his special pillow.”
Then Isabella joined as she explained how Richard would like to eat at 6 p.m., and how he wouldn’t like to have vegetables.
Richard was sitting at the table as if he was a child indeed. Emma couldn’t believe what was happening. He was not like that when they were alone. But next to his family, he was truly a child.
As Emma had enough, she standup, and without saying anything left the restaurant. On the next day, Richard tried to talk to her and called her many times, but she never talked with him again.
She took a week off of work, and wanted to be moved to a new location. Her wish was granted, and she was sent to the new branch of the company.
