WHAT HAPPENED TO KIRK CAMERON, WHO LEFT HOLLYWOOD AND DEVOTE HIMSELF TO CHRISTIANITY

When Kirk Cameron was a little boy, he wanted to be a doctor. When his mother introduced him to acting, his career plans had changed. After some small jobs, he slowly made a name.

“I was always annoyed having to brush my hair and tuck my shirt in to go drive an hour in traffic to audition,” Cameron said.

As he rose in stardom, he started to struggle with his faith.

“When I was growing up, we didn’t go to church,” the actor said. “If you had asked me, I would have said I would be in the category of an atheist at 16 years old, 17 years old.”

“I think I caught my atheism—it was by contagion,” Kirk said as he explained his teacher’s influence. He was focused on his Hollywood career at the time, but later he turned his face to the God.

The reason for his turn was simple, he had a crush on a girl, and that girl invited him to a church. “I’ll be honest. It wasn’t because I was interested in God. I was interested in the girl,” Kirk said.

He was 17. His devotion had changed his life. As he was in a leading role in “Growing Pains,” the producers were afraid to lose him.

“Is he getting into something that’s really gonna take him into Looney Town? And if it is, we need to stop that,” Kirk said.

“I was trying to take the moral high road. I wanted to please God genuinely, and I think sometimes that got misunderstood.”

“The evil, the darkness, the twisted sickness of Hollywood has been going on for a long time.” Kirk said when he talked about the dark side of Hollywood.

He explained how the pursuit of fame and wealth is dangerous. “When that becomes your God, rather than the God who laid down His life on a cross 2,000 years ago, you’re in for a world of hurt,” Kirk said.

He was 20 when he married his co-star from “Growing Pains,” Chelsea Noble, and they built a life far from the Hollywood. Together, they welcomed six children, which four of them were adopted.

In 2021, Cameron decided to leave California, as he shared from his Facebook account, “I asked on social media what states people recommend for a Californian looking to relocate, and the top responses were Tennessee, Florida, and Texas.”

When he became a grandfather, Cameron said, “Our hearts are filled to overflowing. Our beautiful baby girl just had a beautiful baby girl, and we can hardly wait to spend every minute with her and shower her with love.”
