Eric and his wife Rachel were only 18 when they decided to tie the knot. Sadly, three days after their wedding, Rachel passed away in a car crash, where four family suffered.
Eric couldn’t come to his senses for a year. He spent that year in the hospital. When he was 23, he started to work with his father, and since then, he was a workaholic.
He made millions in a short notice. 10 years had passed, and Eric was still alone. his father became ill, and he told his son to run the company.
He started to check the remote gas stations of their company to see how their workers would treat with the customers.
One day, while he was on the road again, he had a flat tire. He was stranded in the middle of nowhere. He walked a mile or two, and found an old gas station. In there, was a mechanic.
Then he noticed that the mechanic was a girl, named Marla. As they talked, Eric fell for her.
When he talked with his parents about Marla, they didn’t accept her since she was a mechanic, and not from a rich family.
“She’s a sweet, kind girl, and for the first time since Rachel passed away, I feel alive.” Eric said, which his parents didn’t say anything else.
They married in a huge wedding. After their marriage, Eric’s mother stated that she can’t trust Marla, no matter what she does, she can’t.
Marla had no guests in the wedding, since she was alone.
“She’s hiding something,” his mother told Eric. “No one is that alone in the world — no one.”
They moved to their house, where they had a housekeeper, two maids, and a driver. They started their rich life together, where Eric was alone once, after Rachel’s passing.
One day, his driver wanted to talk with Eric about Marla. The driver revealed that every afternoon, he would take Marla to a bad part of the town, and two hours later he would take her. Marla would say that she is going to go shopping, but she doesn’t carry any bags with her when she gets picked up.
Then Eric had a plan. The driver told Marla that his nephew will be driving on yesterday, and that nephew will be Eric himself.
He then took Marla to the same part of the town their driver told him. When Marla stepped out of the car, Eric followed her. As Marla entered into a building, Eric started to listen.
It was Marla’s voice, “I’m sorry I can’t stay too long, but you know I do love you…”
Then she went inside. Marla was holding the hands of an old man, and she was shocked when she saw Eric. As he was jealous of his wife, and thought that she was betraying him, he was mad.
Marla went pale, and started to cry. She then revealed that the old man was his father. She was checking on him since the old man was suffering from a stroke and that he was also sick.
“My father was in prison, I was so ashamed.” Marla said. She thought that Eric wouldn’t be with her if she would tell the truth.
“I love you, Marla, and nothing would ever make me change my mind about you.”
