VOLUNTEERS SAVED HEIDI THE HORSE, SHE WAS LEFT TO DIE IN MUD

In England, volunteers of British Horse Society received a call about an abandoned horse in a building site in East Durham.

When they went there, they found a horse lying in the mud, among building site debris gathered around. At first, they thought that the horse was dead.

Heidi was covered in filth, and was barely breathing. They immediately started to her rescue. “It took five people to lift her to her feet,” Here 4 Horses Equine Charity spokeperson shared.

They learned that the site owner thought the horse was dead, and called them to recover the body.

“Whether he thought she was already dead is irrelevant—she had been subject to the most awful suffering,” Wendy Suddes from the charity shared.

“The early days were touch and go, as we dealt with her serious weakness and such a low blood protein level that a plasma transfusion was required,” Suddes said.

After five weeks of treatment, the pony was able to stand on her own without any support. She received blood donation from other healthy horses of the organization.

“Too many sores, worms, parasites, and infections had been given time to take hold and it took months and months to get Heidi well enough to run free in our pastures,” Wendy said.

Here is the recovery of Heidi the horse! Let’s watch it!
