Lily was at the age of 41, and was in pain after her husband of 20 years left her. As she felt lonely, she decided to sign up a dating site.
She met with Juan from Mexico, and they quickly bonded over texting. He then invited Lily to Mexico. She hesitated at first. She was afraid to lose someone again after her husband.
She then decided to surprise him unannounced. She got prepared for a few weeks trip, and boarded a plane. She then took a taxi to the town where Juan was living in. It was a rough trip since the taxi driver couldn’t understand what Lily was saying.
As the road went on, the nervous feelings Lily had rose too. But then she started to think about her happiness, and that changed things in her mind. As she left the taxi, and walked towards Juan’s house, she saw him entering to the building.
As she yelled his name nervously, Juan was surprised. She first thought Juan was upset to see her, but then Juan rushed towards her with a huge smile.
He asked why she didn’t tell him that she was coming, and Lily said that she wanted to surprise him. Then he called her Lucy during their talk. Maybe Lily should return back there as she should take it as the first red flag.
As she corrected him, Juan apologized as he stated that speaking English confused him. They then went to his apartment. They drank some wine, and the night moved on.
When she woke up, she found herself in the street, without her money and phone in her dirty clothes. She then begged for help as she was terrified. People couldn’t understand her since they didn’t know English.
Then a tall man approached to her and asked that if she was in need of help. Then the man revealed his name as Miguel. He asked her to follow him. He took Lily to a cozy restaurant where he ordered some food and coffee for her. Then brought her clean clothes and shoes.
Lily changed her outfit at the restroom of the restaurant. When Lily left the restroom, Miguel gave her his phone and let her use it. Despite Juan being a terrible person, Miguel was a kind man towards her.
Outside of the restaurant, she saw Juan. She was angry when she noticed that he was laughing and talking with his friends, probably about what he did.
Then Lily revealed what happened to her and pointed Juan. She explained that he took her money and phone.
Then Miguel rushed at Juan and beat him. He then asked for the phone and money of Lily. He throw another punch at him before he walked back to Lily.
They called the police and the police took Juan later. Lily spent a week at Miguel’s home and it was one of the best weeks she spent in her life.
