THE REAL TREASURE HER GRANDFATHER LEFT FOR HER WAS IN THE BEEHIVES

Mell was in her bed when her Aunt Daphne tried to lift her from her bed. She was supposed to deal with the beehives her grandpa left her before he passed away. It was her duty to deal with them.

But Mell was not happy with what her grandpa left to her. She thought that she had more important things to deal with than bees.

“Who wants an apiary?” She said to herself while she was on the bus. On the next day, her aunt declared that Mell was grounded for shirking responsibility.

“It’s about responsibility, Mell. It’s what Grandpa wanted for you,” Daphne said to her niece. Then Mell said that she was afraid of getting stung.

Then Daphne showed the protective gear.

She then headed to the apiary. She started to tend the beehives as she was afraid of getting stung. In one of them, she found a plastic bag, where a faded map was in the bag.

It was a treasure map from Grandma Archie. She rushed back home after she found the map. She then remembered the stories her grandpa would tell her, as she recognized the woods on the map.

She then went to the woods, and found the gamekeeper’s house. She remembered the times her grandpa walked her in these woods. The “ancient dwarf tree” was still near the porch, standing strong as it was before.

In the cabin, Mell found a metal box with carvings, and her name was engraved on top of the box. Next to it, a note was left to Mell, from her grandpa.

“To my dear Mell, inside this box is a special treasure for you, but it’s not to be opened until your journey’s true end. You’ll know when the time is right. All my love, Grandpa.”

She then took the box, and went on with the journey. She walked through the woods with the map. But she felt lost, and started to cry. But then she remembered her grandfather’s words. He would say to her to stay calm, and think. She said to herself, “I can’t give up!”

Then she remembered her grandpa’s stories, she needed to find the bridge. She just needed to follow the river’s noise.

But the night was coming, and she would be totally lost if she stayed any longer. Then, she decided to open the box. When she opened it, she found a jar of honey, and a picture of them together.

Then she understood the true meaning of this treasure hunt. Her grandfather just wanted Mell to recall the moments they had walked through these woods and rejoice.
