SUSAN DEY, AND LIFE AFTER “THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY”

Susan Dey was only 18, when she had her breakthrough with the TV show, “The Partridge Family.” despite not having any experience in acting and singing, Dey had acted brilliantly in the show.

As the show received millions of viewers from the US, it even aired in the UK. It became a worldwide hit over short period of time for a TV show.

Sadly, being in a popular show affected Dey, as she suffered eating disorder, and she got dropped to 92 lbs. Then a producer talked with her about the problem, which led her to fix the situation.

David Cassidy, Keith of the show, also had a problem with that popularity. He had a “mass hysteria,” which he shared in his memoir, “C’mon, Get Happy: Fear and Loathing on the Partridge Family Bus.”

Cassidy became a teen idol, and his co-star, Susan Dey, had a big crush on him too. After the show, they started dating. But it ended rather quickly, since Cassidy revealed in his memoir that Dey was too innocent for him.

When Cassidy revealed some intimate moments in the book, Dey was upset about it, and decided to end their friendship, which they stayed as after their romance was ended. She didn’t even attend a reunion of the show years later.

Dey also wrote her own book while the show was airing, “Susan Dey’s Secrets on Boys, Beauty and Popularity.”

She had appeared in more than 20 movies, and 15 TV shows. She received six Golden Globe, and three Emmy nominations.

She was born in 1952, and was raised in Westchester County, New York. Dey is living outside the spotlight for a decade, where she is living in New York with her husband Bernard.

She revealed that she was into older men, because for her, older men know how to get what they want. ”I’m attracted to older men simply because they’ve learned how to get what they want,” Dey said back in 1988.

Her first husband Lenny Hirshan was 25 years older than her. She welcomed her daughter Sara from her first marriage. In 1988, Dey married Bernard Sofronski, and they are still together.

”Bernie has helped me understand that love involves give and take. I never understood love until I met him. I seem to have more energy and I’m allowing myself to become more and more me every day. It makes life so much easier when you’re with someone you can trust,” Dey said in 1988.
