Sally visited her brother’s nearly empty house, as they were moving to Oklahoma for their new life. Iris, Sally’s sister-in-law, needed some help and she was there for it.
Sally knocked the door, but there was no response. She brought coffee with her. She called Iris’ name, but again, there was no response.
Then she saw the bedroom door was ajar, and she peeked into there. There, Iris was putting Donny, Sally’s brother’s Hawaiian shirts, into a garbage bag.
Yes, Iris hated those shirts, but Sally never thought that she would throw them away. She promised that she would pack the shirts for Oklahoma, but there she was getting ready to throw them into the trash can.
Then Sally knocked the bedroom door, “Hey Iris!”
Iris shockingly closed the garbage bag. Her face went pale. “Throwing out some trash?” Sally asked.
Then Sally had an idea. She told Iris that she would throw it out, and that Iris should rest. She snatched the bag, and went outside and throw it into her trunk.
Then she called her parents and told them to throw a housewarming party for her brother at Oklahoma.
When the door of Iris and Donny’s Oklahoma house was knocked, Iris was shocked when she saw Sally and her in-laws in front of her.
They barged in while Iris was shocked to see them. They hugged and praised the new home of their family members.
Then Donny looked at Sally, who was smiling. He told his family that he was sad because all his Hawaiian shirts were lost during the flight. The airline company lost his luggage.
After the dinner, it was time for gifts. The parents gifted a great set of dishes for the new house. Sally first gave Donny a framed picture from their childhood.
“Look at us! Man, I used to love that shirt.” Donny said as he pointed at the Hawaiian shirt.
Then she went to her car, and brought the shirts. Donny was shocked to see his precious belongings.
“How did you…?”
Sally laughed and winked. Iris was petrified. She slowly realized that her sister-in-law caught her, and fixed a mistake. She didn’t say a word.
While they were in the kitchen, Iris asked if she saw her throwing them out, or she found them in the trash afterwards. Sally revealed the truth.
Iris told her that she couldn’t stand seeing them, but after she witnessed how happy was Donny to see them, she realized that she was wrong.
She then talked with Donny and apologized in front of the family. She admitted that she was wrong, but she realized how important the shirts were for Donny, after he found them back.
