May was living in another city when her got ranged. Her aunt was calling her. She suddenly learned that her mother, Jane passed away. May left every project she was working on and returned to Alabama.
She was regretting that she couldn’t say goodbye to her mother. She would like to be with her mother in her last moments, but now she got the chance to see her family. At least she could be there for them.
The whole family were in her late mother’s house. The last time this happened, it was years ago.
Sarah, May’s sister hugged her when she came inside. Her brother John was watching out of the window while his wife was holding his hand.
Their youngest, Mike, was upset as he wished to call his mother more.
They cried and laughed together with their sorrow and memories. Then her aunt called the family to say goodbye. The coffin was in the small room. They slowly walked towards to say goodbye to their mother, but they were shocked when their steps stopped.
The coffin was empty.
The chaos started, and until they heard footsteps, it continued. When the footsteps arrived out of the room, the who room went silent.
Their mother was smiling at them, and greeted them. She apologized from her children and explained that she was left alone for too long and that she had to do something.
Her children told her that she was not alone and that she had her children.
Jane answered that she tried to call her children, write to her children and invited her children for each holiday. Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving…
They never came for three years. She missed her children.
As Jane started to cry with apologizing for ruining her children’s lives and jeopardize their jobs, her children rushed towards their mother and hugged. This time the children were crying out of happiness. They were extremely sad that they lost their mother, and now they got the chance to change things.
