Prince William and Kate Middleton first met in 2001, at St Andrews University in Scotland. It was in 2005 when they started to date. As people thought that the couple would be married soon, they decided to take some time away from each other.
In 2007, the couple had announced that they paused their relationship. Royal author, Robert Lacey shared that the couple broke up during a phone call. Their separation lasted for ten weeks.
On media eye, Middleton was no more than a commoner, as she was coming from a middle-class family. She received a nickname from the media as, “Waity Katie,” as William didn’t propose for years.
Katie Nicholl, royal correspondent, shared that Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton was also worried that her daughter wouldn’t receive the proposition from William.
In Carole’s eyes, Kate was close to 30, and she still didn’t have a ring on her fingers. Then Carole confronted William, and he made a promise that he will put a ring on Kate’s finger.
Royal experts stated that Kate was not worried with the nickname media gave her, but she was terrified of attending to royal events. After she got married into the royal family, she received many help from courtiers and advisors.
Nicholl shared in her book that Kate was not worried, since Prince William made a secret promise in 2007, after they reunited. William needed to finish his military service before starting his family.
During their time as boyfriend and girlfriend, William taught the royal ways to Middleton, as she was eager to learn her role, as the future queen.
William proposed to Middleton in Kenya, in 2010. Middleton revealed that the proposition was romantic.
On the 29th of April, 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton got married at Westminster Abbey. It has been 13 years since they got married, and they welcomed three royal children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and, Prince Louis.
