Motorsports park closes following tragic death of 9-year-old racing star in ‘freak accident’

The California motorsports park where 9-year-old Brooke Carlton tragically lost her life in a “freak accident” earlier this year has permanently closed amid ongoing legal battles related to her death.

In June, Brooke, an emerging talent in the sport, sustained fatal injuries at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park when another young rider accidentally crashed into her.

Following the tragic accident, a lawsuit was filed against the park. Recently, the park announced that it was forced to shut down after the property owner, now involved in the legal proceedings, terminated their agreement.

In a statement on Facebook, the park wrote, “It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of LEMX. Due to a lawsuit from a tragic accident that occurred in June, the property owner has terminated our agreement as they are being brought into it as well.” They added, “It would be in their best interest to have the track closed. I can’t say as I blame them.”

The closure comes in the wake of Brooke’s heartbreaking accident on June 4, when she was critically injured in a collision with another rider. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that the impact threw her off her bike, leaving her unconscious at the scene.

Bystanders performed CPR on Brooke until paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital, where she tragically passed away from her injuries. The other young rider involved sustained only minor injuries.

Following the incident, Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park shared their condolences on Instagram, stating, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, which, as her parents described, was a freak accident.” They urged the community to remember Brooke and support her family, adding, “This is a time to honor this little girl, not criticize the track. We are a community, and we will do our part to support her family.”

Brooke’s parents, Jason and Angie, shared a heartfelt message on a fundraising page: “Yesterday, the Lord called our precious Brooke Lily to heaven after a freak accident at a local motocross track. Our family is struggling to understand why our Brookie was taken, but we have faith that God needed her and called her home.”

Rest in peace, Brooke Carlton.
