MOTHER COULDN’T BELIEVE HER EYES WHEN SHE SAW HER 7-YEAR-OLD AUTISTIC SON’S HAIR

On the 21st of August, a mother from Oklahoma, Rachelle Plumley, shared a post about her 7-year-old non-verbal autistic son. In the post, Plumley praised her son’s long hair as she captioned the picture as “His beautiful long native hair.”

“How I sent his hair to school, in a single braid,” 26-year-old mother shared. As she dropped her son at his special education class, the teachers told her that the students would be work with scissors for that day.

Once Plumley went to pick Asiah from school, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The mother saw her son with a new hairstyle, a choppy hair and bangs. The mother shared her son’s new look with captioning, “How they sent my baby home.”

“In literal tears right now, trying to be reasonable but I cannnnottttt. My son is [seven] & only got his haircut once in his life!!! [And] this was how they sent him home from school I cannottt!!” the angry mother shared.

Mother also stated that the school staff let and encouraged her son to cut his own hair. “But Asiah is afraid of haircuts,” Plumley added.

“He’s autistic…with THREE teachers aids, why is no one watching my f***ing kid?! the fact that it’s so straight like bangs & the back makes me think someone did it to him. I can’t stop crying and he keeps telling me it’s okay mom…like no son, it’s not.”

Plumley talked with FOX 8 after her post went viral and revealed the situation. “When he walked in the door, we noticed obviously his hair was cut,” the mother shared. “A simple ‘I’m sorry,’ or even a phone call would have helped and made me feel a lot better, but still nothing has been said.”

“Even if he did do this to himself, I feel like the school is still held accountable for not paying attention and [not] being there for my son that I’m trusting them to do every day,” Plumley concluded.
