Sally was on the half of her shift at the grocery store, where she was working part-time. Then she saw the nightmare of her life, her mother-in-law, Denise. She wanted to hide, but it was too late since she saw her.
She was wearing her usual clothes, where she was walking like a movie star. The problem was, they were living in a small town.
She was an attention freak.
Denise always wanted someone else for her son, Jack. She would never find Sally good enough for her family, as if she was from the royal family.
It has been five years in her marriage to Jack, and she was still trying to separate them. Jack always chose his mother to stay away from her wrath, and Sally would fight alone.
While Sally was at the register, Denise came with two cans of expensive caviar. She had a fake smile on her face.
She called her “Sweetheart,” and wanted Sally to take care of the expensive caviar. Sally then reached to the scanner, and Denise stopped her. “No, silly, I need you to TAKE CARE OF IT, darling,” she threw a fake smile once again.
Sally was confused, “PAY for the caviar, my dear. You’ve always been so slow,” Denise explained.
Denise told her that she was hosting a party where her friends would expect the best from her, as she is. When Sally started to say that the cans were over hundreds of dollars, Denise stopped her.
“My Jack will cover it. You’re his wife, and it’s your job to help with things like this.”
Sally was shocked and embarrassed. Her co-workers were watching the situation, while Denise was demanding Sally to pay for two cans of caviar hundreds of dollars. She decided to teach her a lesson.
While she was scanning the caviar cans, she pushed to the microphone button at the register.
She then said, “Attention!”
“My mother-in-law Denise Milton, is buying two cans of our finest, the most luxurious caviar. She wanted me, her cashier daughter-in-law to pay for them. Please applause the generous family member of mine!”
The store went silent for a second, and then her co-workers started an applause which other customers joined too with laughs.
As embarrassed, Denise escaped as she left the caviar on the register. Sally was smiling with the victory she achieved.
