MAUREEN MCCORMICK TALKED ABOUT HER MARRIAGE OF 37 YEARS

Marcia of The Brady Bunch, Maureen McCormick gained fame in the show from 1969 to 1974. After the show was ended, McCormick had appeared in some spin-offs of the show.

As she gained fame, she had struggled with it. That struggle led her to use drugs as a defence mechanism and that had affected her career in a bad way. “I’ve been through a lot of hard times, but I take all those experiences and learn and grow from them,” McCormick said.

“I received treatment in a psych ward, entered and exited rehab, and prayed to God for guidance.”

She was struggling with cocaine addiction and she was struggling with the denial of her career. As she was seeking a way out of her addiction, she met with her husband.

“I turned around and saw this guy behind me,” McCormick shared in her autobiography.

“I’d never seen him before. He had dark hair, a great build, and chiseled features. I looked straight into his eyes and thought, ‘This is the man I’m going to marry.’”

McCormick tried hard to get noticed by Cummings, as she attended the Bible studies with him.

”She was very honest with me from day one. She has always been honest with me, an open book. And I was never worried about her reverting to her old behaviour as I figured, whatever comes up, we will just deal with it,” Cummings shared.

“Michael said that he’d made a life-long commitment and decided he was going to work at it until it’s unworkable,” McCormick shared. “He thought child stardom had arrested my development, and in many ways he was right.”

Couple celebrated their 37th anniversary on the 16th of March. “I know there’s one reason that Michael and I managed to stay together through all the heavy-duty ups and downs: our faith,” McCormick stated.

“The two of us had faith that our love, despite all of our problems, was real, strong, durable, and worth sticking around for. Our faith made us believe our love was real.”
