LITTLE ANGEL WAS BORN WITH COVERED IN POLKA DOTS, THE DOCTORS REVEALED HER CONDITION

Doctors of Rebecca Callaghan, who were pregnant back in 2012, decided on early labour after the excess fluid around the baby. Until half an hour passed, nobody realised that little angel Matilda was born with a condition.

Mathilda Callaghan was born with a big blue mark on her face, and the doctors revealed that it was a birth mark. Two weeks later, little angel was diagnosed with Sturge Weber’s syndrome.

Sturge Weber’s syndrome is a neurological skin disease. The syndrome is also causing paralysis, mental disability and seizures.

In a short period of time, Matilda was rushed to the Adler Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, England, after she became sick.

“We couldn’t travel with her as she was so ill. As we stood watching her being taken away, we didn’t know if we were going to see her again. We’d been so excited at our baby’s arrival, now within a matter of hours we didn’t know whether we would even see her alive again,” Matilda’s father shared with Daily Mail.

Little Matilda was also born with two holes in her heart. As she was a fighter, Matilda survived the surgery, despite the low chances of survival.

“She has treatment every couple of months, and the laser does make it look more red and angry, and her face is covered with blobs afterwards, which then gradually fade away again,” Paul, Matilda’s father shared.

“People think we are bad parents – that we have somehow caused Matilda to look like she does.”

After harsh comments of other people, Paul shared, “They just see what is in front of them and jump to hurtful conclusions. I wish they could see past the birthmark and see what a wonderful little angel she is.”

Despite she can’t walk alone, Matilda is using her walking frame to move by herself. “Despite everything she has been through, she has a smile for everyone. She’s doing fantastically well,” Paul continued.

“We are unbelievably proud of Matilda, she is just amazing–we just live every day as a bonus.”

8-year-old Matilda needed a new wheelchair, and for the amount of $6,300, the family launched a crowdfunding page.

”We are fundraising to provide her with new chair so that she may continue to do the thing she loves the most, spending time outside and away from riads and crowds,” was written on the page.
