Famous actor John Amos passed away at the age of 84, on the 21st of August. As his family was grieving over his loss, his son, Kelly Christopher Amos described his father as his hero.
Few months before Amos passed away, his health struggle revealed the problems within the family. Later it led to public accusations and court battles.
Amos was hospitalized back in May of 2023, in Memphis Tennessee. His daughter Shannon Amos explained that her father called her when he was in pain.
As she was out of the country when that happened, she immediately made phone calls, and arranged medical assistance for her father. Amos was put in ICU, as his doctors revealed that his condition was critical.
Shannon stated that her father was a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation. The daughter shared that his father was left vulnerable after being robbed in his house. Shannon later revealed that she contacted the authorities and Colorado Bureau of Investigations was working on the case.
“This cruel reality bewilders us, but we hold onto hope,” Shannon said, as she revealed the fundraiser she set up for her father.
On the other hand, John accused his daughter, Shannon with elder abuse, from his sick bed at the hospital. “She would be the primary suspect — if you would.”
The video where John Amos accused his daughter went viral as it shocked everyone while his daughter was trying to raise money.
Later, Shannon’s representatives claimed that “false and defamatory statements” being spoken about her.
After the family dispute, in July 2023, Kelly Christopher Amos, John’s son, was arrested after he allegedly threatened his sister Shannon. He allegedly sent disturbing text messages and a picture where he was holding a gun and captioned as, “Gonna sleep much better tonight big sis.”
A year after the case was sent to court, it was closed due to lack of evidence. The sources shared that it was only a family feud, rather than illegal activities.
After John Amos passed away, Shannon shared the news from her social media account. “We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened,” Shannon wrote.
Before Amos passed away, he wished for his family to reconciliate, and in his last interview, John talked about his relationship with his daughter and son. “We are still family, and we love each other, and that’s the bottom line,” Amos said.
