13-year-old Australian girl shocked the judges on “The Voice,” with Dolly
Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Back in 1974, when the song was released, Elvis Presley wanted to make a play for Parton’s new song, “I Will Always Love You.”
If she were to accept it, she would lose half of the publishing royalties of the country song.
“Something in my heart says, ‘Don’t do that.’ And I just didn’t do it,” Parton said in an interview.
“But I always wondered what it would sound like. I know he’d kill it…He would have killed it. But anyway, so he didn’t. Then when Whitney [Houston’s version] came out, I made enough money to buy Graceland.”
After Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, none other could sing the song with the strong voice the song needed to be sing, until 13-year-old Laura Kamhuber sang it on “The Voice Kids.”
Here is the performance of Laura. Let’s watch it!
