Elly and Evan were living in an old home with a terrible furnace. She asked her husband to check it many times, and Evan never did. Eight years ago, that night, a terrible fire burned the house they were living in.
Evan found his wife stuck under the beam. He carefully saved Elly, and pulled her onto their yard. Elly was unconscious. She woke up at the hospital, as she found her husband sitting next to her bed, his face was pale.
He was holding his wife’s hands as he was terrified while the doctor removing her bandages.
In that hospital room, she felt that they were slowly drifting apart. In their new house, Evan hired a nurse to help Elly. She was suffering from burns on her face, arms, shoulders…
Few days later, Evan left Elly as he told her that he can’t be with someone like her. The man she loved and adored abandoned her when she needed her husband the most.
After countless surgeries, Elly had a new face. While she was in physical and mental therapy, she met Jim.
Jim was a kind man who was in the group therapy for fire survivors. Jim was a doctor, who had helped Elly to receive her constructive surgeries for her burns on her face.
Their relationship started while he was helping to the people in the group therapy. As months passed, they got married.
As time passed, Jim had a promotion and there was a party at a fancy restaurant. The night was going great, until she saw Evan in there.
Evan slowly approached towards them, and praised Elly, as he couldn’t recognize her. He told to Jim that he was a lucky man to have a beautiful wife like his’.
Then she relieved when she realized that Evan didn’t recognize her. While people were giving speeches at the restaurant, it was time for Elly to talk.
“Hello. I would like to tell my husband that I love him for not his promotion, for the man he is. I was devastated. I was abandoned by my ex-husband after my face was burned during a house fire. My whole body was wounded, and my ex-husband had wounded my soul as if my physical wounds were not enough.”
“I would like to thank my husband Jim for helping me to recover both physically and mentally. I love you.”
