Lily was a mother of four, who has been a mother-at-home for ten years and raised her children while her husband Matt was the breadwinner in the house.
One day, as Matt returned from work as he was exhausted, Lily asked for help with something in the kitchen. She couldn’t reach to a shelf and that she needed her husband’s help with it.
After she called for her husband who was watching TV after he come from work, Matt sighed, “Honey, I’ve just come home. I’ve been working all day…Can I have a little peaceful rest? You are at home all day doing NOTHING. Look at me…I’m dead tired.”
Lily was offended. They started to argue about how she spent ten years raising their children while doing all the work in the house.
Then Matt responded as he stated that he was the sole breadwinner of the house and that he was working from morning till evening, and would exhaust himself at work until he come home.
He told Lily that the only thing she was doing that looking after children, cook food and some cleaning. He told his wife that she was finding time to rest while he was working nonstop for hours.
As Lily was angry, she offered to swap places. Matt laughed. He told Lily that she can’t do what he does at work, as he added that he can do everything she was doing at home.
As they had the same major in college, Lily told him that she can do anything Matt was able to, since she had a higher CGPA at the college.
Matt was not happy when Lily mentioned that, and accepted. He called his boss and revealed the situation to him. Mr. Richards started to laugh before he accepted.
When the morning come, Lily was preparing for work, while Matt was burning some stuff in the kitchen. When she found her husband throwing the burning pan into the sink.
Lily laughed at her husband before she offered help, but Matt refused. Lily sighed, and went to her husband’s workplace with the mess her husband would create while she was at work.
When Lily returned back at home with the half of the exhaustion of the time she would stay at home, she found her husband in the messed-up living room, where his head between his hands.
The he revealed how he messed up the laundry as he mixed the colored ones and the white ones. How he couldn’t cook food for the children, and that they had to make breakfast with pizza.
He then revealed that he forget to take the children from school, where they waited for their father at least an hour.
On that evening, Matt apologized as he promised to help Lily with the house work from that day on, as he realized how hard being a mother with four children was.
