Cole and Linda were visiting Linda’s hometown. They were engaged, and waiting for their wedding day to arrive. As they were on their leaves, they decided to take a trip to Linda’s hometown and visit his mother, Julie.
They met in a different city, where they were both working. In a short time, their relationship evolved and they were now waiting for their wedding.
Linda’s father passed away when she was a small child. As she wouldn’t talk much about it, Cole wouldn’t ask questions regarding Linda’s father.
Cole was happy that he was going to see the place where Linda grew up.
Julie greeted them with a warm welcome. It was close to the dinner time when they arrived.
After a quick rest, they started to eat. During the dinner they talked and catch up with each other. Then they walked around a little and returned for calling it a day.
As the morning arrived, Cole went to the store and bought some groceries. The breakfast ready when he returned.
Again, they ate together and chatted. They decided to spend time outside until dinner. As they returned, they prepared the food together, and then, Julie talked about how she would wish that Linda’ s father, Fred, would see how happy she was.
Then they talked about him. It was the first time Cole would hear that much of Fred, Linda’s father.
After the dinner, Julie brought the old photo album.
Then the shocking revelation came. Cole was petrified when he saw Fred’s picture.
He slowly turned to Julie and Linda, then he told then that he was the reason Fred was dead.
Linda was shocked. She told him that how was that possible. Her father passed away more than twenty years ago. Julie added that Fred passed away in a car crash, where he was in another city for his business.
Then Cole revealed what happened. He was a small boy with his bicycle. One day, while he was cycling on the road, while he wasn’t paying attention to other cars, he almost got hit by one. The car made a maneuver to avoid collision with the boy, and crashed into a tree.
The driver was Fred.
“I didn’t know he was your dad, Linda. Not until I saw this photo tonight.”
He then told her that he would understand if they would like to cancel the wedding, as he stated that he would understand if Linda wouldn’t want to marry with the killer of her father.
“I think it’s fate that we met, Cole,” Linda said as she held her fiance’s hand. Then she hugged to him. Julie was in tears, and then they had a family hug.
