Elly only had her father after her mother passed away. She had an aunt, Jody, who was living overseas.
When she was middle school, her father, Fred, married Janice. She brought her two sons from her first marriage to their lives.
At first, Janice and her sons, Jackson and Avery were nice to Elly. She was acting like a real mother who was caring and loving against Elly.
She was 16, when her father started to complain about his chest pain. They had no idea that he was having heart problems, which took his life few weeks later.
She was left alone now. The only thing remained from her family was the clock in the living room.
In two years, Janice started to change the house. One day, Elly couldn’t find the clock which her father told Elly that the chiming of the clock should remind Elly her family. It was a family heirloom, which passed through generations.
Elly asked where the clock was. Janice grinned. She told Elly that she sold it since it wasn’t fitting with the decor of the room.
She texted to Aunt Jody, as she would constantly after her father passed away. She told her that Janice took over the house and that she should find a job to move away.
There was a time difference, so Jody wouldn’t be able to text back immediately. When the school was over, Jody called her.
She told Elly that she should ran away before Janice learns that Elly knows the truth. “What truth?” Elly asked.
Jody revealed that Fred left everything to his daughter, Elly. She was the rightful owner of everything in the house, and the house.
Jody then told Elly that she is in contact with their lawyer, and that he will make the arrangements. She told Elly that she is buying a plane ticket for tonight for Elly to come to Austria, where Jody was living in.
Elly packed her things, and left a note for Janice and her sons on the kitchen table before she left her childhood home, to return to claim it.
“I’ve learned about the truth. My lawyer will be in contact with you soon. Get ready to leave my property, and consider this as my farewell.”
