Emma was happy that her granddaughter, 13-year-old Lily told her that she wanted to spend the summer with her. Lily was a great child, who would enjoy spending time with Emma, as Emma would also love that.
Lily was jumping around when she arrived at her grandma’s house. Emma sent her to the backyard to play while she was going to unpack her suitcase.
Emma gasped when she opened the suitcase. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the tiny crop tops, and the shorts which would have been underwear.
She also found makeup, perfume and stilettos in her granddaughter’s suitcase.
Emma directly called her daughter, Jenny. She then stated what she found in her granddaughter’s suitcase.
Jenny stated that it was not a big deal, since her daughter was thirteen, it was a normal thing nowadays. “Times have changed, Mom,” Jenny said.
“But don’t you think she’s growing up too fast?” Emma was nervous.
Jenny reassured her mother as she stated that Lily was a smart girl who knew her boundaries, and who would act smart.
Emma watched Lily few days, as she noticed that no matter what she wore, and no matter how much make up she tried on herself, she was still her little baby. She was still helping her in kitchen and would laugh her grandpa’s jokes.
Then Emma and Frank had a talk about their granddaughter. They were afraid that she was growing up so fast, and even, she was acting much older than her age.
Emma talked with Lily that evening. Lily explained that she is still the same Lily, who would love to eat her grandma’s cookies, and who loves walking her grandpa’s old dog.
She explained that all her friends are dressing that way nowadays, and she just wanted to fit in.
The next morning, Emma was surprised to see Lily in her old cardigans. She was preparing breakfast with Frank.
As Emma watched them, she realised that her daughter’s clothes are not identifying her character.
