Brooke was in her late grandfather’s bedroom. Once she got inside, memories started to flow. She was hearing Grandpa Charles’ voice as her eyes were closed.
She was looking at Charles’ belongings, as she then recalled how her grandpa would never allow anyone to touch to his bed.
She then decided to examine the bed, as she thought that her grandpa would have some secrets in it, since he would say, “Don’t you ever touch that mattress, young lady, it’s got more secrets than you can imagine.”
As she examined, she found a leather-bound book, yellowed newspaper clippings, and a stack of photographs.
Charles’ was investigating Brooke’s parents’ accident. He was written how the officers were corrupt and hid details of her parents’ passing. He tried to talk with his family about this matter, but they didn’t believe him, Brooke remembered.
She then decided to finish what her grandpa left. Brooke realised that the son of wealthy family was being protected by the police. He had caught them talking more than once.
Brooke decided to do something. She gathered all the evidence, and went to an editor’s office. She then explained the story, and revealed the evidence her grandfather collected over the years.
The man didn’t believe at first, but as Brooke revealed the story, he was captivated. “There could be serious consequences,” Editor said.
Brooke was sure that she would do whatever she can to prove that her parents were taken from her. For all her life, she thought that an accident took their lives. But in truth, a son of a wealthy family killed her parents while he was driving a car as he was intoxicated with alcohol.
She wanted justice, and she was going to do everything in her power. When the story got published, it led to an outrage. People shared their support for Brooke on the social media.
Brooke then responded to the people on social media and shared that her parents deserved better. As the pressure was too high, Officer Parker, who was the leader of the investigation revealed that they did what they were told to do.
The officer stated that the Johnson family had strong connections, so they did what they wanted, and nobody tried to stop them.
After Johnson family tried to discredit Brooke, people on social media ended up supporting her even more. Then it was revealed that Mr. Johnson had many accidents while he was driving under influence, and each accident was swept under the carpet.
As more details emerged, the situation went larger and the whole town turned against Johnson family. Later, they were caught while leaving the country. As they were under custody, Mr. Johnson confessed his crime. The justice was served, as the man who paid his freedom lost it.
