Ken was crying near the window of his bedroom, where it was his late wife, Emily’s favourite place in the whole house. His newborn daughter Jenny was in her crib, next to Ken and Emily’s bed.
“God gave me you little one, but took your mother, the woman of my dreams. Everything I had.” Ken kept crying.
During the birth, Emily suffered some complications. Sadly, she passed away while the doctors saved Jenny. Now Ken was all alone with his daughter.
With the cries of Jenny, Ken returned to the present moment, where he was lost in his thoughts. He fed Jenny, and cradled her in his arms. In an hour, Jenny fell asleep. But Ken had another sleepless night.
On the next morning, Ken took Jenny out. He then saw a stroller, and a mother. He approached to the woman, and asked where he could buy one for his daughter. The woman smiled towards Ken, who had red, swollen eyes as the woman had.
“You can take this one for $10.”
“That cheap?” Ken was surprised.
“Yes!” The woman responded. “Your daughter needs it more than I do.”
Ken was happy with what he got for his daughter. He took the stroller, gave the money and went back home. He was planning on cleaning it before using it. On the next day, he took the freshly cleaned stroller and put Jenny in.
He heard a cracking sound under the stroller. “What was that?”
Ken found a paper under the padding. He was surprised to find something in the stroller, as he cleaned it last night. It was a letter, and was written for someone named “Ally.”
“My sweet angel Ally. I can’t stop missing you, and your smile. With each passing second, my world is turning darker and darker…”
Then Ken learned that the woman who sold him the stroller had a baby, and she lost her baby with her husband in a car accident. Their daughter Ally was not older than his own daughter, Jenny.
From the CCTV, after he talked with a store owner, Ken was able to find the woman who sold him the stroller. The woman was living on the next street, and it was Ken’s luck that the woman was leaving with her stuff packed in a suitcase.
“Hey lady!” Ken yelled. “Do you remember me? I bought this stroller from you yesterday!”
“Yes,” Emily responded. “May I learn your name?” Ken asked. “It’s Emily,” she responded.
“I’m Ken Emily,” Ken responded. “This is my daughter Jenny.”
As Emily looked towards Jenny, she started to cry. “I’ve found this letter in the stroller.” Ken said. “Was it belonged to your daughter?”
“Yes.” Emily said, and explained her story of how she lost her daughter and husband. Now she was forced to leave her house because she couldn’t pay the last four months’ rent.
“Stay with me.” Ken said. “Until you sort things out, until you fix some things in your life.”
After Emily started to live with Ken and Jenny, she slowly got healthier. As time passed, Ken and Emily fallen in love with one another, and joined their life around Jenny.
