The one legged sailor of Florida, 54-year-old Joseph Malinowski, or with his known name, “Lieutenant Dan,” survived Hurricane Milton, as he first survived Hurricane Helene on the past week.
After Terrence Concannon shared his story on TikTok, Lieutenant Dan received huge fame on social media, and he had his own fanbase, who were worried about him during the Hurricane Milton.

Many people tried to convince 54-year-old Florida man to come with them to a shelter, but Lieutenant Dan refused, as he believed that he would survive Milton, as he did Helene.
“I’m not going anywhere because the safest place to be is on a boat in a flood,” he said. “We learned that with Noah. Everyone who stayed on land drowned. Noah and the animals lived.”
“If the tide goes up, I go up. As long as the water stays out of the boat, I’ll be fine.”
After the storm was over, Lieutenant Dan talked with Sky News, and shared that he was fine and got everything he needed.
“I’m good, I’ve got everything I need, I’ve got plenty of water, I’ve got plenty of food. I could be in here for two weeks,” he said, adding, “I’ve got everything I need – coffee, creamer, everything.”
“I made it through unscathed. It was pretty good.”
