Winston the dog, was close to death where he was on a desert island. Photographer Wesley White found him in Belize, in Central America, while he was on a business trip.
Wesley then decided to rent a kayak, and go to the remote island on the horizon. As he was looking for a spot to fish, he found something bigger.
He found this dog, who was starving. It was clear that the dog didn’t eat anything in weeks. “Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his tail wagging,” Wesley said.
“My heart exploded out of my chest,” he said. “He was just waiting for a human to show up.”
The staff at the hotel directly cared for Winston when Wesley brought him back immediately. They feed Winston and called a vet.
“Winston was found to be infested with mites, emaciated and dehydrated, but otherwise his organs were healthy,” Wesley shared from his social media account.
When he was leaving, he couldn’t leave Winston behind. “It was like giving up my little puppy all of a sudden,” Wesley said. Then he decided to bring him to the US, where he is living in Dallas.
