John and Emily had their ups and downs in their relationship as every other couple had in their lives. The main problem between them was that Emily was vegetarian, and he was eating meat. She didn’t judge people for what they are eating.
But she had a rule, she wouldn’t pay for meat. John was aware of her rule, and he never made a big deal out of it. They would split the bill, but when John eat meat, Emily wouldn’t pay for that.
Then his birthday came. Emily wanted to make him a dinner at home, but cooking meat was not something for her. John wanted to eat outside. He wanted to have a date. As Emily agreed.
But where John wanted to go shocked Emily, he wanted to go to a steakhouse. Since it was John’s birthday, she agreed. The night started greatly. They drank champagne, and Emily gave him her present, a pair of new sneakers.
She ordered a Greek salad and baked potato. John ordered an expensive steak, and a bottle of red wine. Some sides and more salad.
When the pay arrived, John expected Emily to pay since it was his birthday. Emily protested as she recalled her rule about paying for meat.
Then an argument started, and with the effect of the alcohol, John’s voice started to raise. The he yellingly explained that he didn’t have enough money to cover the things he ordered.
Emily was upset, and stated that she paid big money for the sneakers, and that she can’t cover all the bill. She then paid for her half and left.
John then called one of his friends, and as he yelled at Emily once they met again, he was embarrassed himself against his friends.
