Camilla and Jim met in college. Camilla was an exchange student from France, and Jim was from Tennessee. They would talk for hours back in college, and their relationship evolved into a romantic one.
After their marriage, Camilla’s parents would visit them twice a year. Despite Jim tried, eh couldn’t learn enough French to be able to speak with his in-laws.
He would simply eat his food, smile and nod when they talk. Cam and her parents would speak only French when they were together.
He would feel alone when everyone would speak French. Cam wanted Jim to try more for learning French, but he was already trying his best.
In one dinner, Jim invited his friend Nolan, who knew French. He wanted Nolan to help him with French.
As the parents and Cam conversed in French, Nolan turned to Jim and told him that he should check under his bed immediately in whisper. Nolan’s face went pale while he was listening the parents.
As Jim excused himself, he found a black box under the bed. There were nude pictures of Cam in the box. There were messages on the other side of the pictures, and from them, Jim learned that his wife was having an affair.
At that moment, the world slipped under Jim and everything went black. He opened his eyes in a hospital room, where Nolan was sitting next to his bed.
He explained that he found him on the ground, and put the pictures back into the box and shoved it under the bed.
Then they brought Jim into the hospital. Camille was getting coffee for herself and Nolan. When Jim was discharged, Cam was attending so much to her husband. She was concerned as she was making sure that he was getting enough water, fruit or vegetables.
Two days later, Jim confronted Cam. He told her that he wanted to divorce and that he knew the box under the bed.
Cam went pale and froze when she heard about the box.
They had a messy divorce. She tried to contest everything, but she didn’t receive anything. As Jim sold the house, he moved in to a small, cozy apartment where it was close to his workplace.
