After Nathan’s father remarried few months ago, they were now living with Nathan’s stepsiblings, 16-year-old Penny, 11-year-old Peter and 11-year-old William.
Before that Nathan and his father had their own rooms, but now Peter was sharing a small room with Peter and William while Penny was in his old room.
Since Nathan had no space, most of his belongings were now in the basement.
One day, he couldn’t find the watch his late mother gifted to him, which was meant worlds to him. It was the last thing his mother gave to Nathan, before she passed away of cancer.
He checked everywhere, but couldn’t find it. Then went to the basement. In there, he found it but it was broken now. The glass of the watch was broken. Nathan couldn’t believe what he saw.
Nathan found Penny in the living room while she was on her phone. He then showed his watch and complained about her brothers. As Penny told Nathan that he had no right to complain about her brothers, Nathan was furious.
As he felt that he was about to cry, he let it go and hid in the small room and cried in there. He missed his mother, and his house was not feeling like his anymore.
He went to talk with his father and stepmother about what happened. Nathan explained to them that Peter and William destroyed his watch, and that they were also going through his stuff.
But to his frustration, his father Frank told him that for the new adjustments in the family sacrifices must be made.
Nathan was frustrated. He told his father that the last thing his mother left to him was broken. He told him that his siblings were not respecting him, and that now he lost his father too.
Charlotte asked Nathan to be patient as she told him that his siblings were not that old to understand boundaries.
As Nathan talked back about how suffocating the house became for him, he complained about the changes.
As he realised that his father and stepmother wouldn’t be any of help, he decided to teach them a lesson.
Nathan then shared a post on social media where he talked about everything. He explained that he lost his mother and then how his father remarried and how his stepsiblings are destroying his life, as they broke his mother’s watch.
The post went viral as Nathan received many supportive comments under it.
A day later, Nathan showed the post to his parents. As they read it, they realized how terrible Nathan was feeling. Things started to change. They apologized Nathan for not seeing the pain he was in. They told him that they will change things.
Few weeks later, while Nathan was turning the basement into his own room, Penny came and apologized too. Things really changed a lot, in a positive way for Nathan.
