Shelby Ann Carter was a 21-year-old mother from Wyoming, Ill. Carter was living with her boyfriend and her mother. In the beginning of 2017, Carter and her boyfriend welcomed their baby girl.
The late mother filled with joy when she held her daughter. Sadly, fate had other plans.
On the 30th of January, 2017, a terrible tragedy happened.
A fire started in the home while Shelby and her newborn daughter was alone. In seconds, the house filled with poisonous gas and smoke.
Shelby had no other places to go. The firefighters found the lifeless body of Shelby in the living room, where she passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning.
After the firefighters found Shelby’s body, they made a miraculous discovery. Shelby saved her newborn daughter’s life as she strap her daughter into the car seat.
Then she dropped the car seat from the second floor window and saved her daughter’s live before she lost herlife.
Chief of the Wyoming-Speer Fire Protection District Ed Foglesonger talked about the heroic mother and said, “It’s just incredible that she was able to pull her thoughts together to save her baby… I’d say it’s nothing short of a miracle the way it ended up.”
