On the 19th of October, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara attended at the Fourth Annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, California. Phoenix and Mara were criticised for Mara’s wardrobe choice.
49-year-old Joaquin Phoenix was wearing a classic tux, while 39-year-old Mara was wearing a vintage Givenchy gown, which was a see through dress, as it was a bold choice to wear.
People criticised Mara for her see through dress as they described it a “nightgown,” where Mara’s underwear was visible.
There were comments like:
“It looks like she’s wearing a curtain and it’s see-through. Thank God she has underwear on,”
“Even my grandma would not wear Rooney’s slip, sorry.”
“A nightgown with granny panties.”
“Adult diapers”
“Somebody’s curtain.”
“It made her look bigger than what she is.”
“Silly.”
“Who did this to her????[sic]”
The dress actually is a rich piece from history which comes from John Galliano’s Fall 1996 couture collection for Givenchy.
