After Jamie Donelly appeared as Jen, in the 1978 movie, “Grease,” she had her breakthrough.
Jamie started to her career in Broadway before she gained recognition with her character from “Grease,” Jen. She hesitated to take the role at first, but her manager who also worked with John Travolta, thought that her appearance might bring her new opportunities.
After some ups and downs, seven years later her manager arranged an audition for the movie. She didn’t want at first, but her manager pushed her a little.
“I said, ‘I don’t wanna go near that thing again.’ And he said, ‘You ought to give it a shot.'”
“I didn’t know then that the movie would be the hit that it is but, of course, now when people think of the character Jan, I’m the person that they think of.”
As she had premature gray hair, Donelly had dyed her hair for the movie. Short after the successful movie, Donelly decided to leave her career behind, and it has been two decades since she last appeared on cameras.
Donelly chose to focus on her family and to raise her children. She became a devoted and a doting mother to her two children.
In the late 90s, Donelly returned to the screens after two decades of absence with 1998 movies, “Slappy and the Stinkers” and “Can’t Hardly Wait.”
In 2015, she appeared in “Black Mass,” which Johnny Depp starred.
She always focused on her personal life rather than her career. She spent years at the Mountain Lakes. “I was at Mountain Lakes through all my high school years. I came right before I was a freshman and I was there through my high school graduation, and that was in ’64.”
