One late night, Jim and Mel wake up to the burnt smell and voices yelling. When they checked outside, they saw that their neighbor’s home was burning. James and Molly were looking at their house as they were desperate.
Jim and Mel went towards them and took them in while firefighters were working on the house.
In their house, their basement was renovated into a guest house so they host James and Molly in there for a while.
One morning, James whispered towards Mel and stated that Jim told them not to open the door under the basement because there was a mess. Then they heard some sounds in there and asked Mel to check it.
When Mel opened the small door, a terrible smell filled the room and they saw five rabbits in there.
Then Mel screamed, “JIM!”
Jim rushed downstairs, and went pale when he saw that Mel found the rabbits.
“Two months ago, you promised to give them away because of my allergies and fear. Why are there five rabbits now?” Mel asked.
Jim apologized as he revealed that he thought it would be fine if they would stay in the basement, where Jim would feed every day and play with them occasionally.
As May screamed a lot when she first saw the rabbits, their other neighbors Matt and Jordan knocked their door and asked if they can help since they thought they had a problem.
Then Mel explained the situation, and Jordan said that she loves rabbits and that they have plenty of space on their yard. Then Matt told Jim that he can spend as much time as he would like to too.
After they gave the rabbits away, it was time to have a talk.
“Jim, this can’t happen again. We have to be honest with each other.”
“I know. And I’m sorry, Violet. I never wanted to upset you.”
