Donald was living with his son Marty, his wife Jen, and their children, Sally, James and Gordon. His house burnt down, and when he saw the scene, he suffered a heart attack. Since then, Donald was living in his son’s house.
When he was drinking tea with Mary, she told him that he should go to a nursing house which she told him that he will be a reason for a fight between his son and daughter-in-law.
He was sure that his grandchildren, his son and daughter-in-law loved him as they never talked back at him or did something disrespectful. He never did anything wrong against them too where he would lost their respect against himself.
One day, as he noticed that Marty and Jen were coming back to house later and later with each day, he decided to talk with Marty. He was happy to watch the children, but he thought that they wouldn’t want to see him in the house and that was why they were coming later and later.
He talked with his son about moving to a nursing home, and Marty stated that they would talk about it later.
Months passed, Marty and Jen were looking exhausted after they would return from work. But they would smile at him whenever they see Donald. He didn’t talk about nursing home since their last conversation but he opened the talk once he was alone with his son.
Marty accepted when his father even found a place for himself where it was few minutes away from Marty’s home.
Marty agreed to go with his father on the next day. As they were on the road, Donald noticed that his son was like going in circles. When he asked that Marty told him that they will pick something and continue.
When the car stopped, Donald was shocked because they were in the street where Donald’s old burned house was in. The house was standing now, as it did back in time.
Then Donald realized that his son and daughter-in-law had rebuilt his old home and that was why they were returning late from work.
“That’s too much money, Marty. Let me pay you back,” Donald said.
“Absolutely not. Did you think I would let my father live in a nursing home?”
