Jen tried to stop her husband Kyle to hurt the pregnant raccoon they saw in their backyard. As Kyle threw a rock, it missed the raccoon. The animal climbed a tree, and was safe from Kyle’s harm.
Kyle had his outbursts in their fifteen years of marriage, but Jen would be shocked with every time he does it.
They were struggling with the raccoons since last spring. They would keep the trash out of their trash can and scatter them around their driveway. Jen wouldn’t mind to clean that as she was aware that the animals were only looking for food, and they weren’t giving any harm.
Kyle was not happy with that, as he was feeling that he had a personal fight with them.
“I’m telling you, we need better locks for the cans,” Jen said. “Maybe some chicken wire around the garden too. My sister Jane says that worked for them.”
But Kyle told his wife that he had another idea to get rid of them permanently. He started to build traps in the garage, where Jen was afraid that the animals might get hurt. She didn’t want that to happen.
Kyle was a violent man, and Jen wasn’t happy with the man her husband turned into. He wasn’t always like that as he once was a kind and good soul.
“This is my house!” He yelled after they had an argument about killing or not killing the raccoons. “I work every day to pay for it, to keep it nice, and I’m not going to let some animals destroy it while my stupid wife takes their side!”
She was devastated when she saw that Kyle was working with an Industrial-grade pest control poison. He wanted to kill each and every last one of the raccoons.
“Kyle, you can’t be serious. That stuff could kill them!”
“That’s the point!”
During the night, Jen heard the trash can knocking over. She found a bag next to the trash can, which was moving. When she opened it, she found three tiny raccoon babies.
She woke her husband and asked if he did this.
“They’re pests. I’m handling it.” Kyle said.
That was it. She couldn’t have it anymore. Kyle became a terrible man who wanted to destroy everything, who was constantly yelling. Jen was struggling to talk with her husband. They were not able to communicate anymore.
When the morning arrived, Jen went to a lawyer’s office and filed for divorce. Two weeks later, she was alone in the house, where she had three baby raccoons to take care of.
