May was ten when she lost her father. She wasn’t ready when her mother introduced Jack to her. She hated Jack in the beginning, as she didn’t want to replace her father.
But as years passed, Jack showed her that he was not there to replace her father. He helped her a lot, and acted like she was his true daughter. May was loved by Jack, and she loved him.
And now, after fifteen years, Jack had another mission in May’s life, he was going to walk her down the aisle.
But she couldn’t ask him the question. Whenever she would like to talk with him, an errand would pop up, and he wouldn’t be there.
In the morning of her wedding, Jack was nowhere to be found. May was waiting for him in her bridal gown.
She found Jack in a small room, off the main hall. When she tried to talk with him, Jack was cold as it was unusual. He was always warm and welcoming towards May, but that time, he was cold.
“Dad? Is everything okay? We’re supposed to start in three minutes.”
Then Jack revealed the truth. He told her that he can’t walk her down the aisle because she was not his daughter.
That upset May terribly. She started to cry as she asked how he would say that after all these years and after all their experiences as father and daughter.
Jack was incredibly nervous. He then started to cry and asked that he would like to walk his official daughter down the aisle, and he showed the adoption papers.
May hugged to her father tightly as she was in tears.
“I love you, kiddo. Always have, always will.” Jack cried too.
Then he asked “Are you ready?”
May smiled as she wiped her tears without caring about her makeup, “Yes dad!”
