Mary was sending $300 to her grandson Tim each month. She would send the money to her daughter-in-law Susan, and she would give it to Tim, or that was what Mary thought.
She asked Susan not to tell Tim that she was sending him money, because she didn’t want to buy Tim’s love with money. She was sending money to Tim because she wanted him to learn how to save money.
Her son’s family were doing great financially, but she wanted her grandson to have enough pocket money.
One day, Tim called her and asked for money. Then Mary asked if Susan didn’t give him pocket money each month. Tim said no. He told granny Mary that his mother wouldn’t give him any money as she would tell him that he is too young for it.
Then he also told that his mother warned him not to ask money from Mary. Then she realised that her DIL was keeping the money for herself.
On the next day, Mary called Susan and asked her to go shopping with her, as it has been long time since they went out together. She accepted and they went to an antique store together.
She had a plan as Susan didn’t know that the antique shop belonged to one of Mary’s friends, Helen.
“Hello, ladies! What brings you to my humble store today?” Helen welcomed them
Mary told her that they were just browsing, and asked that if she had any jewelry.
Then Helen showed some great pieces, as Susan loved a necklace. She asked the price and Helen told her that it was $500.
They left the shop later, and then Mary told Susan that she will send another $500 for Tim to buy a toy for himself.
She then sent fake money, and with that money, Susan tried to buy the necklace. She was caught in act.
As she was caught, Mary confronted her and Susan confessed everything. Helen threatened her with calling the police, and Susan promised that she will give the money directly to Tim from now on.
