Gracie was a 47-year-old woman who just left gym on a rainy day. She was lucky, as the rain stopped after she left. She was going to meet with her friend Diana, where she was going to show her some yoga moves.
She was waiting for a bus at the stop, then she noticed a beggar. A man who was looking directly at her. She decided to give the desperate man some money.
As she walked towards him, she was frozen with shock. The man was her son, Tyler, who left her when she became paralyzed. Tyler abandoned her three years ago.
He was a 24-year-old healthy man at the time. He was partying constantly.
THREE YEARS AGO
Tyler’s phone got ranged while he was in a party. It was Ricky. He called him to give the terrible news about their mother.
Tyler was shocked when he learned that he needed to come to the hospital. Two hours later, he was at the hospital. Ricky was mad that it took two hours for Tyler to come to the hospital.
He was yelling at Tyler for being this much late. Tyler never liked his family, as he was feeling that Ricky was the favourite son.
He then snapped back at him. “You’re her favorite son, aren’t you? You’re always the first in everything… so why should I waste my time comin’ in early?”
“Are you out of your mind, Tyler? Mom’s admitted here. She’s had a terrible accident. You know what? You’re so sick… and selfish… that’s why everyone hates you!”
Tyler left the hospital then.
Gracie was in the hospital where she underwent multiple surgeries. The car crash left her paralyzed. But what hurt most was that her sons had a terrible fight. Ricky supported his mother as much as he can.
He would take some time off from college and attend to her after Gracie discharged.
One day, while Ricky had an important exam, Tyler was at home with his mother. She needed her medicine, and asked her son to take them from the pharmacy.
Tyler yelled at her for disturbing him. She told him that she wasn’t expecting her son to treat her this way.
Then Tyler snapped at her again and asked why she was leaving him alone with his grandma when he was a small boy.
When their father abandoned them, Gracie was a working single mother. She was not able to care for her son since she was working in long shifts. She also just gave birth to Ricky, and she was attending him.
Ricky was jealous of him too since they were small boys.
As he kept yelling at her, he then abandoned her. As years passed, Gracie started to walk again through physical therapies she attended to. It took two and a half year but she was now able to teach yoga at the gym.
PRESENT
Gracie took her son back at home. While they were talking, Tyler apologized for leaving her. He then revealed that he has AIDS.
He explained that he didn’t come back home since he was so ashamed, but he knew that they would help him no matter what he did in the past.
Gracie told him that of course they will help, since they were family. When Ricky learned that his brother had AIDS, he started to search for a hospital for him. In a short notice, Tyler went under treatment.
