That day, Tess returned home early from visiting her sister. She was pregnant, and she was very close to her due date. As they spent some hours together, Kayla sent Tess back home since her husband Javier and six-month-old boy, Dante were waiting.
She didn’t want her sister to be alone, and Kayla promised that she would call Tess as soon as her labour starts.
While on her way back, Tess thought that Dante and Javier would have a calm evening, but the things were different in truth.
When Tess opened the door, she found Javier in a devil costume, while Dante was lying on the floor, watching his father in his ridiculous costume and moves.
As Tess was processing what was happening, Javier jumped over Dante. That was it. Tess screamed. “Are you insane?!”
Javier was frozen with fear. Tess immediately picked up Dante. While Javier was in his stupid devil costume, his mother was sitting calmly behind him, glued on her phone.
Javier tried to talk then as he stated that he will explain what was happening, while he was trying to get off of his costume.
Then Javier explained that it was a tradition from their village in Spain, which was called El Colacho. It is done to protect babies from evil spirits, and bad luck.
For Tess it was superstition, and she yelled that towards her husband and MIL. Lucia then joined to the conversation as she claimed that it was not a superstition. She was also recording still.
Tess was shockingly listening her MIL. She was shocked that they were believing that this would keep their baby away from bad luck.
“You’re jumping over our baby like he’s some kind of obstacle! From my point of view, I didn’t know if you were going to hurt him or worse!”
Tess wanted to be asked at least. She wouldn’t let them do such a thing, but doing something behind her back was something else.
She took her baby, and went to her sister’s house. When she told what happened to Kayla, she couldn’t believe what Tess told. After Javier promised that he will no longer attempt to do any of his traditions, Tess went back to her home.
From that day on, Javier never did such a thing.
