Gregory had a cellar which he wouldn’t let anyone in. He would occasionally catch his children trying to pry it open. His son Olly would protest that they would like to see what is inside, along with his sister Julie. But he wouldn’t let them in, as he was keeping some secrets in there.
Even his wife Mirtha didn’t know what was in the cellar. Then Mirtha wanted to see he interior of the cellar, which Gregory protested and threatened that he would leave if she tries.
As time passed, the children left the house without knowing what was in the cellar. But Mirtha was still wondering about what was in there. She was trying for years. After the children grow up and left the house, Gregory hired Rose to clean their home.
Except the cellar, Rose was cleaning everywhere. One day, Gregory caught Rosa in his office, as some drawers were open and she didn’t have a cleaning product in her hands. She then apologized and stated that Mirtha wanted her to find the key of the cellar.
Rosa revealed that Mirtha offered her bonus if she finds the key. Then Gregory opened his check book, and have Rosa a bonus. Then he turned to her and said, “Here is your bonus. Also, you are fired.”
Rosa apologized, and Gregory told her that he can’t work with someone he can’t put his trust. Gregory was disappointed, he was not angry.
“I can’t believe you would fire her just like that! It was my fault. That poor girl didn’t deserve that!” Mirtha yelled at Gregory.
Then he said to his wife that she should apologize from her since she was the reason Rosa was fired.
After their argument, Mirtha promised that she will never ask about the cellar and apologized.
Few weeks later they hired Donna, another maid. Donna only cleaned the house. She never tried to snoop around or accomplish weird requests from Mirtha.
Years passed. Mirtha passed away, and Gregory became old. Donna was still working for them. She was the only company Gregory had, after all his family returned to their homes once the funeral was over.
Donna was everything Gregory needed. She was his carer, cleaner, cook,…
One day, Donna decided to check the cellar. Since Mirtha told to her in her death bed, Donna was wondering what was inside. One day, she decided to check it out. Once she broke the lock, Gregory caught her. She explained the situation, and Gregory nodded.
When Donna was in the home, Gregory checked his secret. He thought that someone else should know of his secret too, and locked the cellar once again.
That evening, Gregory collapsed. Donna took him to the hospital, and the doctors revealed that it was a matter of time for Gregory to pass away. He then gave his permission to Donna. He told the where the key was, and also as his last wish, he didn’t want Donna to tell his children what was in.
She was allowed to keep whatever she find in there, or throw it away. The only thing Gregory wished, that his children shouldn’t know. Then he lost consciousness.
She rushed back home, and checked the cellar. In there, she found women’s clothes, jewelry, pictures, and a few letters. She read the letters, and returned to the hospital.
The items were from Gregory’s first love, Jane. Since Gregory was not a wealthy man, Jane’s parents didn’t let them be together. They were going to elope, but Jane’s parents learned their plans, and the last thing Gregory had, was the luggage of Jane she gave him a day before her parents take her away.
Donna then made a plan. She found Jane’s daughter, Opal, from social media and told Gregory’s story. She told her how Gregory kept the items Jane gave to him. Then Opal revealed that her mother wanted to see Gregory one last time, before he passed away.
When Donna last visited Gregory, she brought Jane with her. When Gregory saw her, he immediately recognized Jane. As Donna left them alone, few hours later, Gregory was gone.
