Anne found a letter from her late mother, Diane, in the hotel room where her wedding was going to happen. She wrote a letter for every event in Anne’s life, and she also had left a letter to her for her wedding day.
When Anne opened the letter, she cried because it was her mother’s handwriting. She wrote to her daughter about how she wished that she found the right man for her life.
Then Anne had a thought, a question in her mind. Did she find the right man?
THREE MONTHS AGO
Anne was at the park with Roger, her friend. They were talking about their dating disasters. Roger asked about the last man Anne dated, Mark.
Anne stated that Mark was a successful man. He had a company, a good taste in restaurants. But he was boring.
As Roger thought that Anne didn’t see Mark again, she explained that they had four dates. Roger asked why, as he was expecting, wanting her to say no.
Anne said that Mark was a nice man. He didn’t push Anne to do anything she would be uncomfortable with, or tried to kiss her.
“It feels safe. But it’s still early. We’re just dating.”
Then Anne asked to Roger if he was seeing anyone.
“There’s someone.”
“Then tell her how you feel.”
“What if she doesn’t feel the same? I could lose her.”
“You won’t. Trust me. She’d be crazy not to love you.”
Roger smiled, he was about to say something, but then decided to stay silent.
Few weeks later Mark and Anne moved in. And then their wedding plans started.
One day, Anne caught cold. She was burning with fever. She asked Mark to stay with her, but he refused as he explained that he had much work to do. Then he mentioned to Roger that she was sick, and he took a day off to care for her.
Then they talked about Mark. Everything was great, except he wanted Anne to quit her job. He said to her that being a chef was not a real vocation.
“But you love your job.”
“I told him that, but maybe he’s right. Maybe I should just let it go.”
PRESENT
It was clear. Mark was not the guy who would be the right choice for Anne. She started to feel nervous. She was scared. She didn’t want to marry him. Her right choice would be Roger, but he was out of town. He told her that when she invited him to her wedding.
Then the door got knocked. She hesitated, then the voice from other side of the door made her open it. Roger was there. He directly started to tell her that he was madly in love with her.
He explained that he was afraid to lose her and that was why he didn’t tell her anything. Since now this was his last chance, he wanted to try his luck. As he was about to say more, Anne jumped on him and kissed him.
They ran away, while sad Mark couldn’t understand why he was left at the altar.
