When Jessie started to work in a diner, she was sent to serve the grumpy old customer of the diner, Mark. When she started to serve Mark, she noticed that he was an old, unhappy man, who was alone.
He went to his side with a big smile, but the old man had a stern face. He wanted an ice tea, not too cold or sweet, and with two lemons.
After Jessie brought the ice tea, he complained about the paper straw. Jessie told him that they only have paper straws now, and then Mark stated that the ice tea was too sweet.
He always found something to complain in the ice tea Jessie brought. Then he wanted a lasagna. After he left, he didn’t forget to leave a tip.
Each day Mark went there, he created problems for Jessie. For years, Jessie served to Mark. One day, she didn’t find a tip on his table, but there was a key and a note.
In the note, Mark stated that he was going to a nursing home, and that he left his home to her. When Jessie contacted to Mark’s lawyer, the man explained that his family left him years ago, and that he spoke highly of her.
As she went to the nursing home to spoke with Mark, the man stated that his children are hating him. He also added that he is seeing Jessie as his daughter, and wanted her to keep his house.
Then Jessie stated that she can take care of him while they were both living in the house. For months she cared for Mark, until he passed away. When she gave birth to her son few years later, she named him Mark.
