Monica and Andy were married for a while. Andy’s mother Lina was a kind woman. She was always sweet with Monica, and never did something that would disturb Monica. But the whole family had a formality which was a little weird for Monica.
Lina had a weird habit also. She would gift porcelain dolls to Monica. For each and every Christmas, Lina would bring a porcelain dolls, which were hand crafted and beautifully dressed.
It became their own tradition. Monica was happy that her mother-in-law was into a relationship with herself. But Lina would bring the dolls in privacy, and she wouldn’t let anyone else in the family see them.
The dolls were staying in her closet. For five years they rested in there. One Christmas, as Andy bought a new closet for his wife, he started to empty the old one. Then Monica heard a scream from their bedroom. It was Andy’s voice.
Andy was shocked to see the dolls. He asked where did his wife found these dolls from, and when he learned that his mother had gifted them, he took all of them into boxes, and took them to woods.
He burned them in there. Monica couldn’t understand why her husband did that. When Andy asked for how long these dolls were in there, he gasped when he heard that they were in there for five years.
Then Andy revealed that in his culture, these dolls are magic objects. They used to cleanse a home. They would drain the negative energy, but they shouldn’t be in the same place for long time, because the energy they drained would return if they are not moved around.
When they called Lina, the mother-in-law stated that Monica was a part of this family, and that she should learn things one way or another.
