Janet was on the couch, scrolling her social media from her phone. Her mother Helen and Janet were not in good terms, since after Judith, Janet’s grandmother, passed away, they had some problems.
Janet was always distant against her grandmother, and she was looking for a way to not attend her grandmother’s funeral. Then Helen asked about the storage unit her grandmother left her.
She stated that she will sell it. She revealed that she doesn’t want anything from that “garbage hole.”
Helen wanted her daughter to have at least decency to check what her grandmother left to her. Janet said that she would check tomorrow.
Helen was disappointed in her daughter, since she couldn’t accept the fact that Janet had no love for her late grandmother Judith, who loved her very much.
When the next morning came, Janet went to the storage facility, where Judith’s storage was in. She was not happy with her errand, but she had to go there to get rid of her mother’s talking.
She felt annoyed, as she would like to do something else, rather than spend time in dusty storage unit.
She opened the storage unit, and it was indeed filled with dust. She couldn’t open her eyes for a couple of seconds. There were some old furniture, dusty boxes and useless trinkets.
The boxes were full of old clothes which she was not happy with. “Waste of time!” she said to herself.
As she had enough, she left the storage unit. After she locked it again, an old man approached to her. The old man asked why she was upset, and Janet explained the situation and dusty storage unit.
When the man learned that there were many items in there, he offered $1000 for the unit. As Janet wasn’t expecting, and she didn’t think that the storage unit would worth that much, she accepted.
When she returned back to home with $1000, her mother Helene asked where she found the money. When Janet explained what happened, Helene was both angry and upset with her daughter.
Few days later, Janet saw something in the local newspaper. About an old man who sold items from a storage unit, and made millions from the items he sold from the unit. The old man was the same man who paid $1000 to Janet.
