After years of disappearance, Kim Basinger returned to public eye. She was Vicki Vale of “Batman,” and one of the Bond girls, on the “James Bond” franchise. She had both beauty and talent. Despite her fame, she had a turbulent life.
It was in 70s when Basinger rose to stardom. She started to her career as a model, and then became an actress. After her role as a Bond girl in “Never Say Never Again,” she almost had her breakthrough.
But after appearing as Vicki Vale in Tim Burton’s “Batman,” she had her place among the legends of the industry. In truth, she was a last-minute replacement for the role, after Sean Young not appeared in the movie. But to her luck, the role brought her breakthrough.
Despite being famous and successful, her personal life was turbulent. It was in 1993 she married Alex Baldwin, and they became one of the most popular couples in Hollywood.
In 2002, the famous couple divorced. She then joked, “I turned down “Sleeping with the Enemy” and then I went on to sleep with the enemy!”
They had a nasty battle over the custody of their daughter, Ireland Baldwin. The private matters came onto public eye, and the couple were highly criticised. A voicemail was leaked, where Baldwin was calling his daughter, “rude, thoughtless little pig.”
After her highly publicised divorce, Basinger started to mentally struggle and decided to live a normal life as she was struggling with agoraphobia.
Basinger talked about her condition and stated that it was like “something just completely shuts down within you,” and then she needed to learn simple things such as driving or opening doors once again.
She once had a panic attack while grocery shopping, and that caused her to not being able to drive for almost six years.
After 15 years of staying away from spotlight, she appeared in 2022, on “Red Table Talk.” Her daughter Ireland Baldwin also was with her.
The daughter and mother talked about Basinger’s anxiety and her condition. Ireland also talked about being a child of a famous couple, and staying in between their clashes over their divorce.
In another talk, Basinger stated that she underwent a lot of therapy sessions.
In 2014, Basinger fell in love again, with her longtime friend and hairstylist Mitch Stone. They were friends for more than 20 years, and Basinger stated that their relationship was “a beautiful surprise.”
In 2023, Basinger made a rare public appearance, where fans talked about her appearance while she was out on the street. “She was beautiful at whatever age, she didn’t need to do this,” and “What has Kim done to her face?” Was written by social media users.
