PEOPLE PRAISED WHEN JOAQUIN PHOENIX LEFT THE GAY MOVIE WITH BOLD SCENES

Todd Haynes shared back in 2023 that he and Joaquin Phoenix are going to film a period gay romance along with Jonathan Raymond.

“The next film is a feature that’s an original script that I developed with Joaquin Phoenix based on some thoughts and ideas he brought to me. We basically wrote with him as a story writer. Me and Jon Raymond and Joaquin share the story credit,” Haynes stated.

Phoenix accordingly encouraged Haynes to be bolder and use adult themes in the movie, as he is an extreme actor. Haynes said, “Joaquin was pushing me further and going ‘No, let’s go further.'”

The director also revealed that the movie will be setting in 30s Los Angeles and that it will be a gay love story.

Haynes also gave an update on U.S. premiere of “May December” as he stated that the script was done. Haynes also praised Phoenix for his will “to push through barriers.”

The director stated that Phoenix is eagerly wants to explore different aspects of life as an actor.

Just five days before the start of the shooting of the movie, Phoenix left the movie. After he left, project fell apart in July.

After he left the movie, the stakeholders, financiers and crew members are expecting a compensation.

Phoenix recently attended a press conference about his new movie “Joker: Folie à Deux,” along with Lady Gaga, during the Venice Film Festival.

“If I do, I would just be sharing my opinion from my perspective, and the other creatives aren’t here to share their piece. It doesn’t feel like that would be right. I don’t think that would be helpful, so I just don’t think I will,” Phoenix said after a question related to his withdraw from Haynes’ movie.

There were praising comments like:

“I agree it was HIS decision to make and he did. I hope they cast it well. Now with all the buzz it should be a great showing,”

“Huge respect for him.”

“I’M SO HAPPY HE DID.”

He made the right decision. Think it potentially could have hurt his career.”

“He made the RIGHT choice.”

“No reason to criticize him. Respect his values and his personal choice. Actors are allowed to choose the roles they take, you know,”
