Gemma was rushing things for her husband, Tom’s birthday party. There were many balloons, streamers were hung from the ceiling. It was colourful.
People were laughing and chatting in the living room. Then the door got knocked. Gemma opened it and found a delivery man who was holding a box.
She took the box, and put it on the table as it was clearly a cake. As the party kept going, the time for cutting the cake arrived.
First, Tom blew the candles on the cake his parents brought. Gemma checked the cake the delivery man brought. On the cake, there was a screenshot of a conversation.
But she couldn’t read it as Lisa, her friend, came to check on her. Without reading the conversation, Gemma went inside. But her mind was occupied with the screenshot. As time passed, she excused herself since she couldn’t hold herself back.
She opened the box, and she saw the conversation of Tom and a woman named Jen. The messages were intimate, and there, Gemma found out that her husband was cheating on her.
While people singing “Happy Birthday!” to Tom, Gemma brought the new cake. People gasped as they read the conversation. Then Gemma yelled at Tom, “What is this!?”
Tom mumbled something but Gemma kept yelling. He tried to touch Gemma’s arm, but she pulled herself back.
The party was over, and people were shocked with only a $20 cake. In truth, their marriage was over after the arrival of a $20 cake.
