A TikTok video where a judge in Texas, placed a mother in handcuffs after she stated that the mother’s outfit was inappropriate for the court, and caught her while the mother was taking pictures in the court room. The video was shared in TikTok, and went viral in a short notice in September.
District Court Judge Stephanie Boyd summoned the mother to the bench, and was talking about the mother’s wardrobe choice.
“First of all why are you in this court in shorts?” Judge Boyd asked to the woman.

“I’m sorry, I just … I’ve never really been in court,” the mother responded. Then Judge Boyd kept scolding the mother despite the woman apologized.
As the judge caught the woman while she was taking pictures, she wanted the phone to be handed over to court deputy.
“Who were you taking photos of?” Judge Boyd asked then. The mother replied that she was talking to her daughter about her son was doing fine. Then Judge Boyd asked again, “No, my question is who were you taking photos of?”
“Alright, so Deputy Lori, if you put her in cuffs, since you want to be next to her son, put her in the box.” Judge Boyd continued then.
Many people criticised Judge Boyd under the comments section as:
“judge is way out of line…”
“So what if someone has to go to court and they don’t have any nice clothing nor can they afford it????”
“Wow to much power and not enough compassion.”
